Okay. It looks really bad and really scary out there – even more so than before you started reading this! Why do any of us even bother to get up in the morning with all the risks we’re taking? Because life is worth living and there’s a lot going on that isn’t violent. And – because if you take steps to be aware of what’s out there, you’ll be prepared and ready for it and your chances of getting away from an attacker and surviving are very, very good.
This is more than just a special report on crime statistics. This a “boot camp primer” for “personal safety.” I call it that because most of us understand the concept of boot camp. When you join the military, male or female, young, old, smart, educated or not, everyone goes through “basic training” or “boot camp” as it is referred to.
There’s a reason why everyone starts off his or her military career in boot camp. The primary reason is so everyone has the same level of training, the same type of training and the same rules about training. Whether you go to California or North Carolina, your basic training is the same. When police officers go through the police academy they get the same basic training no matter where they go – they learn to shoot, write reports, patrol and learn how to do basic police operations.
These organizations are preparing their recruits for the things they’ll face in their lives and their environment. They know that a trained, educated and prepared soldier is equipped to handle anything life and war can throw at them. Additional training can make an officer better at what they do, but mostly boot camp gives them a foundation to work from. It’s the same thing with safety. If you learn the basic information and tips about safety you’ll have a foundation to work from. That’s what this report is all about. At the end of it you’ll find additional resources you can read about to expand your education. But this will give you the basics.
In boot camp a soldier learns some pretty basic things. They start off by learning their limits. They learn how far they can push their bodies and minds. It’s often much farther than they would believe!
When it comes to your own Personal Safety think along the lines of the military they are programed to tackle any task put in front of them. When it comes to your safety go one step beyond and protect what is yours. Invest in some Self Defense products and know how to use a pepper spray before you need it.
