What are they?

Motion detectors spot the movement in areas covered by the
security sensors. Motion detectors transmit high frequency
radio wave signals. They give a warning that someone is
entering into your home.

Different kinds of motion detectors & how they work:

Infrared Sensors:

Motion detectors use infrared light to detect heat changes,
i.e. when a person moves across this light it detects them
with the help of the infrared sensors. If a person moves in
the range of the motion sensors, the alarm is activated.
Infrared sensors are cheaper than microwave sensors and
ultrasonic sensors. Infrared sensors are generally smaller
and very reliable.

Vibration Sensors:

It detects a person through vibration. Many car alarms have
this feature to alert the owner that something has bumped
into their car.

Photoelectric Sensors:

Some motion detection systems use lasers and photoelectric
beams. The laser is shot across to the other side of the
room or doorway. If the laser is interrupted the unit’s
alarm signal is activated.

Ultrasonic sensors :

They use a frequency around 30kHz. The transmitter bounces
the waves of walls, furniture, windows and ceilings and when
the room has stabilized, the alarm is armed.

Acoustic Sensors:

They can detect the energy produced by any kind of sound,
including breaking glass. In the case of breaking glass from
window intrusions, the pattern of the sound emitted is
detected.

Your Safety While Driving with Sirius Radio

While driving down the FDR the other day I found that the classic rewind station on Sirius Radio, Wow I was taken back in time to my high school days in Francis Lewis, I got so caught up in the music I didn’t realize I passed my exit at 71 St.

I smiled at how I could have so much fun thinking of a calm time in my life. But if you have ever been on the FDR you would know that it not fun when you miss the exit. Okay the music is great so I will have to drive to the next exit which by this time I was at the 53 St exit so I got off and would backtrack, When I got off the exit their were three guys with metal detectors checking all around the cars. Your first thought is what do they know that I don’t and an alarm went off in my head what building is this that they need to check my car.

How Professional Burglars Mind Works

If I want to get into your home I will.

Burglars know that many people that have installed an alarms, use it for the first couple of months. After that the homeowner either forgets to set the alarm or even remember to lock all the windows and doors.

A good thing is that when a survey was done by inmates, They said that they rarely go into a child room for obvious reasons most kids do not have valuable items so it is really a waist of time for them. They said that they could brake into your home in less then 22 minutes.

When asked if what they thought of a Security System a small percent said that they would leave a location that had a good Security system, Number one reason for leaving your home is a barking dog.

The reason they choose your home is the value of the home, cars in the driveway, would give them every reason to brake in if you have a Corvette and a Lexus. Also if they can see in the windows.

Almost half of the persistent burglars interviewed for a recent survey said they believed home security has improved over the last 10 years but they also felt that the improvements would not be enough to stop them from breaking in.

Only 20% of those surveyed said that a good security system was the most common reason they abandoned an attempted break-in, 40% said being disturbed by the homeowner was the main cause of them giving up a break-in attempt and 40% of those surveyed said they would be put off if there was a noisy dog on the premises.

Now if your not ready for a dog the next best thing would be an Electronic Secure Barking Dog.

No matter how many times it is said we all do it, leave something on the front seat that is of value. You say it’s ok, I just have to run in for a second” nothing will happen. And then you walk out and you car window is smashed.

The first thing you think of is ” I thought of putting it in the trunk” but I was in a hurry.

* Rule #1 being in a hurry could cost you about $1000.00 could you afford that, even if you could that is an expensive lesson.

Car Alarms have blinking lights to let you know that the alarm has been set. You see it all the time on the dashboard. This is to indicate the alarm in the car is working. But what if you have an older car?

No problem you can go the store and buy a blinking red light for about five dollars. A car thief will think twice before he tries to enter the car. You can also buy a sticker for your car just to let them think the alarm is on.

How many times have you heard that the guy down the street was broken into last night in his own driveway. Hey it happened to me 2 weeks ago someone went through the whole neighborhood and broke into all cars in the driveway.

You can also install a Cyber Eye on your dashboard, while it takes photos 1-60 second intervals when movement is around even in the dark. The cost of about $250.00 could save your car from vandalism and have photos to prove it.

Your sound asleep, thrives are not as smart as they used to be times are getting tough, the reports says one in 100 in the United States are behind bars. At least they get a good night sleep, so should you.
