Personal Safety & Hidden Surveillance Cameras

The day has arrived that you have feared for the last 16 years your son or daughter is now driving and if you thought you lost sleep before now it will really kick into high gear. Every parent knows the danger zone they are now in. I remember the day I took my first test the instructor jumped out of the car when I made my parallel park, I remember thinking what’s the matter with this guy. Needless to say my father didn’t think it was as funny as I did. So he said you either take drivers-ed or no driving for you. So I did and the next test I passed with flying colors. Now once we did get our license their were some rules ( Never let me see you driving with anyone else in the car until I say so) That was about 8 months and for good reason. As a parent it is our job to protect your child.

Which brings me to an article I read today about hidden surveillance cameras in teen cars. As a parent – safety is the biggest concern so why would you not want to know how your child was driving when no one is watching, I am sure you could think of several reasons why one would. Family’s Teen Safe Driver program places a small surveillance camera in the customer’s car. When an unusual driving incident occurs, as simple as hard braking or as serious as an accident, the camera captures a 20-second span surrounding the incident and posts it on a website alongside a professional driving instructor’s critique.

So that sounds good but I was taught to never admit to anything, having a surveillance camera is solid evidence that your child could be 100% in the wrong and could cost you everything you have work for in a lawsuit, on the other hand I don’t want to wait until an accident to know how my child is driving. I want to do something before the accident, but the child would be responsible for their actions but on the other hand we all know once something hits the web it is open to anyone so why would they want to do that. I would say if the company called the parent and didn’t place the information on a web site for the whole world to see then it would be worth its wait in gold to have this information, making my child account for his actions.

Please share with me your thoughts on this
