Personal Security For Women
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Roger_Weaver]Roger Weaver

We all enjoy getting out of the house for activities or meeting with friends. A favorite activity of women is shopping. As women it is important that we keep an eye out and protect ourselves to prevent becoming a victim of purse snatching, assault, or rape.

Protecting yourself while you are at home or away is an easy task. For protection at home install a top quality security system with monitoring services. A security system can protect you from break-ins, assault, fire, carbon monoxide poisoning and medical emergencies. Selecting a home security system is an important step and should be taken with care.

Personal security while out on the town is equally important. A valuable tool for woman is to receive self-defense training. There are many groups that offer self-defense training. You will learn what to do in the event that someone approaches you with a knife or grabs you from behind. You will learn techniques that can save your life.

Keep careful watch over your bags when you are at the mall or out on the town. Do not carry your wallet in your hand or a purse that has handles. These are easy targets for thieves to grab and run. A purse that has a long strap that can be placed over your neck will be more secure. Thieves are looking for easy targets to rob.

There are personal safety items that can be carried with you in your purse or pocket. Pepper spray is a good deterrent. There are some pepper spray cans that can be attached to your key chain for easy access. Pepper spray can slow down an assailant giving you time to seek help or get to safety. An advantage of pepper spray as a self-defense tool is that it is legal to carry, sell, or use in most states.

Personal sirens are another deterrent. These are usually a small device that you pull a pin or press a button for. The device sends off an alarm scaring the attacker. A siren will draw attention to you which is something that an attacker does not want. These sirens can be purchased with a decibel rating up to 110 db which can easily discourage an assailant.

The simplest item to carry with you is a loud whistle. The premise behind the whistle is that it will draw attention to the assailant and discourage their attack. These whistles are the kind of whistle that you blow and are small enough for you to carry or attach to your key chain.

Regardless of the personal security method that you choose it is important to remain alert of your surroundings and the people that are near you. When you are at home be certain to arm your home security system. Good security can give you the peace of mind that you are safe and someone is watching over you. Women Safety Your best Self Defense

Women and Safety

You know when your gut Instinct tells you to get out. Pay attention

Some people call it a “gut Instinct” or a “hunch” but by whatever name you use - what you’re referring to is your intuition.

It’s a powerful survival mechanism - if you learn to listen to it. All of us, especially women have some degree of intuition or intuitiveness. Few of us even pay attention to it. let alone use it to our full advantage.

It speaks in a still, quite voice tat is often drowned out by what is politically correct or expedient.

Don’t become a statistic because you thought you might look foolish or paranoid. Better to be thought of as a fool than to actually be one for not paying attention to your own instincts for self preservation.

Many women would rather risk their lives than to be thought rude by a total stranger! It sounds absurd to read it, but it’s the truth! Next time your upbringing gets in the way of your safety, Ignore it the outcome could change your life.

Electronic Pocket/keychain Whistle

Carry a Personal Alarm or Pepper Spray with you at all times. Don’t wait to become a Victim.

While you can carry a Keychain Alarm with a light you can also take steps to protect yourself.

Safety Tips For Women!
By Marie Clare

Safety should be the Number One Priority for Women! In my book
“the Ultimate Online Dating Handbook” I provide tips on being
safe on your first encounter with an Internet Dating friend. But
really, women need to keep safety in mind whether you are out of
town, in a hotel, in a car, at home or going for a walk. Safety
should be your first concern. Try following the tips below to
help keep yourself safe at all times.

If you are traveling in an unfamiliar area consider these.

- In a hotel room alone at night put a doorstop under the main
door and any adjoining doors before you go to bed. This will
help to prevent a break in.

- If you’re single and traveling alone, wear a band on your
left hand ring finger. It should look like a wedding ring. This
way you are not advertising that you’re there by yourself.

- Always carry the address of the hotel you are staying at with
you. If you get lost you can ask a store employee, a family or a
woman with children for directions. These would be considered
safe people to ask.

When driving in your car alone it is a good idea to take some
precautions.

- Always drive with the car doors locked.

- Your windows should be up at least three-quarters of the way
to prevent someone from trying to get in through your windows.

- Always keep the tank half full. You do not want to be got in
an unfamiliar area without gas.

- Be cautious if a stranger is loitering around your vehicle,
or sitting in a vehicle parked next to yours.

- Also, if you use public transportation like the bus or
subway, sit near the driver or operator. Someone will be less
likely to attack in the presence of authority.

If you walk regularly

- Do not draw attention to yourself be wearing flashy jewelry
or expensive clothing.

- When walking alone at night avoid walking on poorly lit
streets, near ally ways or parks. It is harder for you to see
any person around you in poorly lit areas. It is best to stick
to well lit streets that you are familiar with. And, never wear
headphones - you must be alert at all times. Wearing headphones
will not allow you to hear someone who may be approaching you.

There are also things you can do to stay safe in your home.

- When alone keep your doors and windows locked.

- Leave a light on outside and some on inside. If you are
coming home late and do not want to leave lights on all day,
purchase some timers. For outside and for inside. Set them to go
on as dusk falls so it will appear someone is home.

- If you are going away have a reliable neighbor or family
member pick up your mail and newspaper every day. If you are
going away for a more lengthy period of time put a stop on your
mail and the newspaper delivery. If you can, have a car parked
in your driveway while you’re gone. Have someone cut your grass
or shovel the snow. Do all of this to make the house appear like
someone is home. This will help deter burglars.

Follow these easy steps and always be careful and alert when
ever you are alone.

Be Safe!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Donna @ 12:43 pm

It almost the end of 2008 and I am taking the time to review the year as I see it.

This is one time that I like to sit down and take a good look at what I did and didn’t do in the past year that
could have made things different.

Were down to count down for another year has gone.

As you look back on the year several things come to mind

The price of gas hit an all time high.
The economic crisis forced us all to talk a look at how we spend our money.

This is the day that we all reflect on what has happend in the last 365 days and what we want to change for the next 365 days.

As you watch the ball drop in Time Square and think of your life and how you will improve in 2009 think of the whole picture.

What is important and what is not.

I am really excited about the New Year and forget New Years resolution. I am just going to change my life a little.

I will be driving home from South Carolina at 12 o’clock I should be somewhere around Maryland.

If you are driving please be careful
If you are out drinking please do not drive

Merry Christmas Magical Moments

Filed under: Uncategorized — Donna @ 12:37 pm

Merry Christmas to Everyone.

This is the most wonderful time of the year.

Last night Christmas Eve I had my family over for dinner. While we all enjoyed this night with the kids getting crazy and wanting to open present we had a little time to reflect on the Magical Moments we have had over the years.

My brother told a wonderful story about a year we used to go up to my sister Barbara’s house its about 40 minutes from where we live. One year as Nick was driving up the snow was coming down hard the roads were really bad, he had a flat tire. Now it was Christmas Eve, the wind was blowing, No cell phones at the time. He started to walk to find some help and he walked up to this house with all the holiday lights on and asked to use his phone, letting the guy know what happened and where he was going. As Nick told him about the flat tire at this moment the guy said I have a tire you can have and their on the side of the house was a 15 inch tire that fit his car. You have to ask yourself what are the chances of this happening on this day the only answer is a Magical Moment. He change the tire and was on his way, Never forgetting the man who helped him on that Christmas Eve.

Do you have a Magical Moment in your life Please feel free to add your comments

My wish to you is you have a life time of Magical Moments.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday to you and your family.

Personal Alarm- Kids need protection from Bullies

Filed under: Uncategorized — Donna @ 8:08 am

Keychain with light and Alarm

Bullying has been around for a very long time it has become the number one problem in schools and is rapidly becoming the number ne problem in the workplace. It’s at epidemic proportions for adults as well as children.

Once called “Hazing” and believed to be a “rite of passage” studies now show that bullying can have a devastating long-term effects on those impacted by it. Bullies rob us of our self-esteem, isolate us from our peers, and create long-term health problems and even lead to suicide- particularly among children.

A recent study by the Family and Work Institute reported that one-third of youth are bullied at least once a month. Other studies claim six out of 10 American teens witness bullying at least once a day.

According to the Institue on Bullying witnessing bullying can be as harmful as being bullied because it may make them feel helpless or the next target.

Myths about bulling persist, many people believe that children and adults who are bullied are targets because they are targets because they are not as smart or talented or not as capable as those who bully.

The truth is the exact opposite!!

The complaints of your child should be taken very seriously.
* Don’t shrug their fears or concerns off with comments like,
“It’ll get better or this will stop eventually
It won’t Never expect your child to work through a bullying situation alone.

You may not get a second chance at this so pay attention as parents.

* Listen to your child
* As your child specific questions,
* Know who your child eats lunch with,
* Listen to them on the phone,
* Teach your child to be assertive,
* Teach your child to identify this behavior
* Be a good role model - your child is always watching you what you do your child will do. Avoid using threats or aggression when interacting with other adults and when disciplining your child. They tend to think it is ok to be yelled at or it is all their fault.

If you think your child is being bullied talk to a school counselor, they will give you information you may not know.

Another great idea is to get your child a Personal Alarm, Take time to let them know this is not a toy and is to be used only when their is a problem

NY Snow Storm harms Investagaiton for Laura

NY Snow Storm harms Investigation for Laura Garza

It’s 6 am and 29 degrees outside with a halo around the moon and a spooky feeling in the air. The Snow storm is on it way.

While most of us are able to stay home the schools are closing the kids are happy and mom gets to wrap presents and bake some cookies. It could turn out to be a wonderful family day.

But not for everyone. The family and friends of Laura Garza will be still wondering where she is. As you know Laura was at a nightclub in Manhattan on Dec 3, They say that she left willingly with Michael Mele and another man, that may be the way it looked on the surveillance camera but that may be because if he put a date rape drug in her drink then she would want to go home and Michael may have said I will take you. Thinking she was going to Brooklyn not 70 miles upstate.

So to everyone it would look like she was with them. Never underestimate what a guy will do, and he is a little strange from what many people have said about him. I don’t know him but many do in the Walkill area. I know that they did close the Quoins that he owned the day Laura was reported missing.

I also know that his parents live in Newburg NY which is about 15 miles from where his business was and where he lived. He never registered as a sex offender in Middletown NY. He is slick and knows it.

Living 2 miles from the investigation in Orange County NY the cops are still searching every where you go. But today may put a stop to that as we are expecting a foot of snow.

Laura could be anywhere from Manhattan to the Hudson river. This guy has lived here all his life yesterday the volunteers searched on 84 from Middletown to Newburg which is about 15 miles, and the tempter is about 34 degrees.

As with the investigation with Natalie Holloway we pray they find her soon and give the family peace. While you getting ready for the holiday season just keep in mind that no matter what you think is a problem Thank God your home with your loved ones able to complain.
